Maersk launches new air cargo services between US and China

A.P. Moller – Maersk is introducing two new air freight services between the US and China ‘in an effort to meet its customers’ end-to-end logistics needs’.

Maersk will begin by operating two weekly flights between Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) and Shenyang Taoxian International Airport (SHE) as well as two weekly flights between Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) and Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport (HGH), both of which will increase to three weekly flights from May 2023.

Michel Pozas Lucic, Global Head of Air at A.P. Moller – Maersk, said: “With the introduction of these new routes, we are further connecting North America and Asia Pacific through regular flights and controlled capacity for our customers.

“At Maersk, we want to ensure that our customers have the visibility, reliability, and resilience in their supply chains.

“Air freight continues to be an important asset in our customers’ end-to-end logistics needs.”

Three newly-acquired Boeing 767-300 freighters will be used in the operation, operated by Miami-based cargo airline Amerijet International. The freighters are part of the fleet of Maersk Air Cargo, Maersk’s ‘in-house’ cargo airline.

Maersk has also recently launched an air freight service operating between US airports and Incheon, Korea (ICN) – also operated by Amerijet International.
